Happy New Year !

We hope everyone had a great Christmas, and wish everyone a great New Years !

*********************************************************************************

Lane Duncan has been doing research for his LEGO project. Lane is a member of the Patriot Engineering Team from George H.W. Bush elementary in Addison, Texas. His team will be entering a LEGO competition, and has been collecting information and photos from the Enloe museum exhibits. His team will complete a project, the subject of which is snack foods made from grain, and will use photos and information from the corn planting and grinding exhibits from the museum in their presentation.

***********************************************************************************
Lane and the PET team will also be completing LEGO models of structures, using photos and a computer program to convert the pictures to pixels. From the pixel graph, the team will construct matching models from the appropriate LEGO bricks. The team will be using photos of Enloe, past and present, for some of the entries and will be displaying the models at the museum once the competitions are completed.

ENLOE, RAILS, AND COTTON

The Cotton Belt Railroad Symposium of 2011 is approaching and a delegation of Enloe Museum members will be in attendance.  This annual event is to be held at Texas A&M - Commerce, on September 23-24, and will run in conjunction with the Bois d'Arc Bash celebration.  More information on the event can be found at http://www.cottonbeltroute.com/ or by clicking the link to the right of this page.

The Enloe Museum members will be hoping to find information and/or artifacts for inclusion into the museum archives.  To kick off the Cotton Belt Railroad event, we have sourced some images from Enloe to share.
(by clicking on each image, the image can be enlarged for easier viewing)

Over the next weeks and months, we would like to see the railroad artifacts expanded at the museum.  An effort will be underway to provide a railroad specific collection of memoralbilia, so if you have anything you wish to contribute, please drop by the Enloe Museum to share in the collection.

Well, the Cotton Belt Railroad Symposium held in Commerce, was an awesome event.  Members and friends of the Enloe Museum were in attendance and had a great time.  In addition to an information filled program, participants were treated to an excellent luncheon along with a great band providing entertainment.   Afterwards, we attended the Dyer Junction dedication ceremonies and made a quick tour of the activities going on during the Bois d' Arc Bash celebration on the square.

We are expecting an appearance by members of the Bois d'Arc Kingdom group, at the museum during the homecoming festivities.  Author and Bois d'Arc Kingdom Prime Minister, Fred Tarpley, will be visiting and will have some of his books available.  Also, Bois d'Arc artist Jerry Lytle, is expected to stop by with some of his art works to display.  If anyone might have some Bois d'Arc artifacts, crafts, or items of interest, please bring them by to share and discuss.  Maybe even bring a piece by to whittle on....

Lane Duncan is planning on having his 'Texas T-Rex' pulling tractor on display at the museum.

Lane drives the tractor, originally from Enloe and owned by Larry King, at LSGTPA tractor pulling events.

Lane will be on hand, to answer questions or sign an autograph !

Stop by and say hello, check out the tractor, and pick up an LSGTPA pulling schedule.

Enloe Independence Day Parade

The Clara Foster Slough Museum in Enloe, proved to be a popular hang out during the Enloe 4th of July Parade.

Lots of antique iron rumbled by the museum, as the parade spectators looked on.

As the parade entertained the crowd outside, a few new exhibits attracted attention inside the museum as well.

The 4th of July festivities were enjoyed by many on this day, in Enloe, and several new visitors enjoyed the museum during their stop.
