Delta County Cotton Harvest Festival Features Enloe Museum Displays

The Clara Foster Slough Museum of Enloe staff was a proud participant in the 2017 Delta County Cotton Harvest Festival, held in downtown Cooper, Texas.  The Enloe Museum staff organized a display featuring a 1900's era Cotton Wagon from Akard Wagon Company of Lake Creek, Texas.  The display also included a working set of wagon mounted cotton scales, a set of field scales for weighing bales of cotton, original cotton sacks, bale dollys, and various supporting equipment for cotton harvesting.

The museum staff also provided televised documentary and educational videos on cotton history and production in Delta County.  The staff was on hand throughout the day, to visit and answer any questions from festival goers.  The event was a great success, which included a pancake breakfast, music entertainment, a motorcycle ride and a 5K run, and dozens of vendors.

The Enloe Museum articles were displayed in the J.F. Henslee Hardware building on the Cooper square, with thanks to Jennifer Dwyer for arranging and providing for the museum exhibit.  We were proud to have been a part of such a great event in Delta County !
